Brioche Bread Shaped into a Ring

A weakness I have like many people is fresh baked warm bread. Here is one of my favorites, Brioche". When it is in this shape it makes for a wonderful arrangement on a table and you can place your favorite smear in the middle. INGREDIENTS

  • 1 c + more if needed whole milk

  • ⅓ c softened butter

  • 2 t vanilla

  • 3 cups + more if needed all-purpose flour

  • 5 T granulated sugar

  • ⅓ T salt

  • 2 t or 1 package instant dry yeast

For the Top before baking:

  • 1 tablespoon milk or 1 egg

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine dry yeast with the warm milk, set aside for 10 minutes.

  2. In a stand mixer, combine: flour, sugar, salt, and vanilla.

  3. Incorporate butter and mix at slowly 1 - 2 minutes.

  4. Add yeast mixture.

  5. Knead the dough in the stand mixer until smooth.

  6. Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rest until doubled in size.

  7. Preheat oven to 350'

  8. Divide it into 3 equal parts and shape into ropes, pinch all 3 end together and braid the dough, when you are at the end pinch, join both pinch sides together to form a ring, set aside in at room temperature until it doubles in size. (About 30 - 40 minutes)

  9. Brush with a beaten egg.

  10. Bake for 25 minutes.

  11. Let it rest before cutting.

  12. Enjoy!
