Brown Butter Chocolate Chip and Oreo Cookies

The holiday bring out some of the best baking. We look forward to those cookies we only get once a year. This year I decided to put a spin on a classic cookie and add a few of my household favorite goodies. Try these and let me know how you enjoyed them.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2.5 T Instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 1 t baking soda

  • 1 t salt

  • 2 sticks butter

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 T Vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup Jumbo semi sweet chocolate chips

  • 14 Oreos. Each cookie broken into 4 pieces

  • 1 cup of toasted pecans

Topping for cookies

  • * 1/2 cup Jumbo chips

  • * 1/2 cup Pecans

  • * 5-7 broken Oreos

  • 2 T rock salt - optional

These topping will be added after you scoop them on to the cookie sheet.

Adding the additional goodies gives a beautiful bakery appearance.

Directions

  • Brown the butter in a saucepan, stirring constantly over medium heat.

  • The butter will turn a golden brown and dark bits will form at the bottom of the pan.

  • Remove from heat and cool the butter in fridge or freezer until it is in a solid form.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Grease baking sheets with cooking spray or line with parchment.

  • Cream together butter, for at least 2 minutes before adding the sugars, eggs, and vanilla mix for another 2-4 minutes.

  • Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt. Only mix the dry ingredients in until just barely combined.

  • Stir in chocolate chips, pecans, and Oreo cookie pieces. Just until combined.

  • Using an ice cream scooper, scoop out batter and shape into a ball and place on the cookie sheet. Add additional toppings and sprinkle with rock salt or sea salt.

  • Bake 8-10 minutes until the top and edges are just golden.

  • Cool cookies on baking sheet before transporting to a cooling rack.

  • Enjoy!
