INGREDIENTS
5-8 turkey legs about 2.5 pounds
1 t onion powder
1 t salt
1 t sage
1 t pepper
3 bay leaves
1 T Slap your Mama Seasoning or any 1 T of flavorful brand of Creole Seasoning
10 cloves garlic peeled and cut in half
4 T local honey ( Extra honey for a top coat glaze if you want to add a bit more sweetness)
3 T olive oil
2 large sweet onions cut in quarters
2/3 cup chicken stock
1/3 cup of your finest Bourbon ( I use W. L. Weller 12 year Bourbon or Elijah Craig Bourbon)
DIRECTIONS
Heat the oven 300
Combine Onion powder, sage, pepper, and salt in a bowl
Season the meat with the above mixture
In a Dutch over on a large eye on the stove heat the olive oil and add the turkey legs browning on each side.
Add onions, garlic, Slap you Mama Seasoning, and honey; cook for 3-4 minutes
Slowly add the chicken stock and scrap the bottom of the Dutch oven gently then add the bourbon.
Stir to infuse the bourbon into the liquid.
Cover and cook in the oven for 6-8 hours.
Baste the turkey continuously throughout the cooking process.
After baking let the Turkey Rest in its juices for about 10 minutes before serving.
(If you like it sweet drizzle additional honey on the top of the turkey)
Enjoy!
