Traveling around the world and meeting new people is a journey on its own, but eating the food at each destination and learning from those who cook recipes from generation to generation is an honor. I learned how to cook this prepacked sweet pork tocino from an elder in the Filipino community. She and her son taught me how to quickly make this dish using only 1 ingredient other than the prepackaged meat. I've had people aske me many times what is the recipe and when I tell them, they look at me in disbelief. Want to try this recipe? Let's get started!
INGREDIENTS
4 to 5 packs of sweet pork tocino
3 cans of 7Up or Ginger Ale
DIRECTIONS
Open each package and place into a bowl
Trim the excess fat from the pork tocino
In a large skillet over medium heat place the trimmed tonico in the pan
Pour 2 cans of 7UP or Ginger Ale over the tocino
Turn the temperature up to Med - High, and stir on occasion
Once the liquid begins too reduce and thicken up continuously stir
Add the third can of Soda to the mixture and stir
Once the meat has reached a bright red color and the middle of the meal is completely cooked. Remove from the pan and place on a bed of steamed white Rice.
Enjoy!
