Turkey Gravy

Updated: Oct 31, 2020

Some of the best gravy I've tasted has been from the drippings of the Thanksgiving Day Turkey. My mother is a master at making gravy so why change anything? Here is her version of Thanksgiving Day Turkey Gravy!

INGREDIENTS

  • 3.5 to 4 cups well seasoned turkey pan drippings

    • (3.5 to 4 cups of Turkey or Chicken stock may be substituted)

  • 1 stick of unsalted butter, cut

  • 1 t pepper

  • 1 t garlic powder

  • 1/8 t liquid mesquite smoke (Options)

  • 1/2 cup flour

  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce

  • cups pan drippings

DIRECTIONS

  • Note: Strain any piece of turkey in the drippings before this recipe

  • Melt butter over low heat in a heavy sauce pan .

  • Stir in the pepper, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.

  • Slowly incorporate the flour whisking continuously.

  • The butter mixture will be thick once all the flour is added.

  • Slowly begin to pour in drippings and while whisking.

  • Simmer the gravy for at least 3 - 4 minutes.

  • Serve while hot.

  • Enjoy!
