Some of the best gravy I've tasted has been from the drippings of the Thanksgiving Day Turkey. My mother is a master at making gravy so why change anything? Here is her version of Thanksgiving Day Turkey Gravy!
INGREDIENTS
3.5 to 4 cups well seasoned turkey pan drippings
(3.5 to 4 cups of Turkey or Chicken stock may be substituted)
1 stick of unsalted butter, cut
1 t pepper
1 t garlic powder
1/8 t liquid mesquite smoke (Options)
1/2 cup flour
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
cups pan drippings
DIRECTIONS
Note: Strain any piece of turkey in the drippings before this recipe
Melt butter over low heat in a heavy sauce pan .
Stir in the pepper, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.
Slowly incorporate the flour whisking continuously.
The butter mixture will be thick once all the flour is added.
Slowly begin to pour in drippings and while whisking.
Simmer the gravy for at least 3 - 4 minutes.
Serve while hot.
Enjoy!
